Dave. Rob, the guy who posted the info sent a message with your number to the guy selling the badge today.
Ok thanks!

I texted with one of the others who is selling a badge, we made a deal, but he's a little slow to get it finalized.

I'm open to what the community wants. From there I can speak to the two finance volunteers on the Type R Club of America committee for official feedback.
Keep me posted on what ideas people have. In the meantime, I'll keep trying to secure badges and will keep this thread updated along with listing what I have in my signature.

Right now you are the most active and putting money where your mouth is, so what are your thoughts? I want to make sure the burden doesn't fall on you/others.

My thoughts are that at least right now you can get a new console. My next thought is if the actual car owner wanted it maybe they would pay the price. Personally someone selling a faded console that they don’t know where it came from should be worth considerably less .

I agree, my thoughts were the correct owner would need to match the price paid to make the community whole.

My worry is that the proper owner may not see their badge comes up for sale. And then someone random buys it for their civic or something, and it could be lost forever.

I understand. Next time low ball them and point out condition and the current price for a brand new one is $260.xx

Good idea haha. Although there is value in having the original arm rest, especially with the original badge.

Except in your case, you are not the original car owner. No reason to point out the badge number as your reason to purchase it. The car could be crushed, and long gone . I really like your idea but as Luke said I would hate for you to waste your money.

To clarify, I didn't intend to imply anyone was wasting their money. My goal was to establish a community-run "fund" for securing these badges. Even if the car is long gone, it would be fun to reconnect the badge with the original owner or a subsequent owner from the community.
