I say this from personal experience with the last car I had painted I wish I would've pulled the interior out to this day but you live and learn..
the glass guy took a small chunk of my dashboard off with the tool he used to remove the windshield first off and second off even though the interior was taped off it still was very dirty inside everywhere with dust from sanding. almost impossible to clean to a fine standard without removing..
coolhandluke wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2017 12:33 pm I agree with the above. Its foreseeable that the paint shop will get overspray on the interior either due to not taping off, not taping off correctly, etc. I would leave the interior out and tape any items you do not want impacted from over spray.

I say all of this after living with a dashboard for ~9yrs with over spray.

gReat progress! I would just hold off until the car is back from paint. Would hate to have any of the interior damaged/ruined while its there, after accidents do happen. No such thing as being "too" careful.

Thanks for the input fellas, I appreciate it. And yes, this will be the plan. I spoke with my body and paint guy and he said if you are this far and can manage, I would leave everything out. I should be able to do the entire interior in a weekend. Well worth it to not have to worry about the over-spray or damage IMO. Thanks for the input guys.

When she returns from getting the engine bay done, I will be going full tilt on the bottom of heR and all the suspension parts. Changing, replacing, cleaning, painting, more replacing, and Im sure more cleaning. I'll place the JDM engine in the bay so I can everything wired up and ready. That way its an easy swap for the RDOT C5 when it returns from my Honda master tech.

I got the gas tank dropped and all the lines from that down also the other night. I feel like Im better off just buying a new gas tank than trying to clean this one from 10+ years of old gas in it? Idk.

We shall see, stay tuned for some pics of the fresh bay as long as the incoming snow doesnt damper him from picking heR up.

I'm excited for you and I look forward to the progress updates. The gas tank does not sound fun, I'm facing a similar challenge with an EG project. Please let me know if you find a replacement option.

Thanks! I have been getting pretty excited as things are happening. Feels great to finally have the time and space to get working.

Even though the snow came earlier than the forecast called for, she got picked up on Saturday and Im hoping will be back home mid week.

So after the shell was picked up, the building it went to had some heating issues, and he was unable to paint for a week. Once that was fixed, we got another major cold snap here in NY and my friend who is painting the bay for me had pipes freeze in his new home. Looooong story short, it took a month instead of a week to get it done, but that's how it goes sometimes.

But it's all good! With the holiday's and a small vacation, I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to get a ton more stuff done anyway. I would rather him take his time and do it right....Which duhhhh... of course he did. ;)
