Had the opposite experience as most talked about. Grundy was a complete waste of my time. Initially called them and had to wait for a paper application by mail. In the meantime had to send several photos of vehicle and show it in enclosed storage. Sent app back with requested copy of title and didn’t hear anything after 2wks. Called and said didn’t receive app yet. Waited another week and called again. Was told application was denied, end of story. Week later receive letter stating denied because this isn’t a “show car” and overvalued.

Called Hagerty and in 10min had insurance cards in my email inbox! Sorry I didn’t call them first.

My entire process with Grundy was done digitally by email, except for me calling them for any questions I had. Application, photos, proof of limited production, current insurance, etc.

A friend just tried to insure via Grundy and the underwriters stated the Integra Type R wasn't a collector car. Unsure on steps (if any to remediate.)

Hagerty was more hoops but insures this vehicle.

Need to provide them some proof. I sent them articles from legit publications, the Barret Jackson auction info, production numbers.

Id also definitely call them after they send the decline notice. There should be a rep to reach out to.

Can you post those documents? I was about to start the process myself.

I dont recall which articles I sent them. But I made sure they were from well known publications like motor trend or car and driver. Anything that explains what the car is and mentions the limited production numbers. I literally just googled for articles. The link to the barrett jackson auction is easy to find.

Printed all that up and mailed it to them with all the application and insurance info for my daily, etc. They have a checklist of requirements that need to be sent to them.

Team Grundy here too. I switched over in 2017. I have agreed value of $30k and pay $483 a year. I just had to provide pictures of the car and proof of why I wanted that value with copies of receipts for mods and other for sale ads. I just used bring a trailers history and sent them all the low milage ones going for high dollars.

I might switch from Hagerty to Statefarm soon. Hagerty seems like a good company, but also seems like there is a price premium which is justified by their magazine subscriptions and other "members" perks, which I don't really care about.

I'm going to search and post here, otherwise, I fear I will face the same issue- despite multiple Grundy users here.
