So here we go again. I tried to get the cool citrus rust remover but the hardware store stuff said for wood applications. I used this instead. Someone said they used it on a bmx site for gun part cleaning, bike auto, household. Here is my results

Looks great, I love bar keepers friend never thought to use it to clean parts up. I’ll have to give it a try now. :)

Ohh snap, looked into my car only to find out it was missing. I’ll have to check Al’s thread. Great job on restoring this piece by piece. This is the same method I plan on taking once I’m able to drive my own. Keep the updates coming!

I tip my hat to you for the elbow grease. FYI I would research ultrasonic / ionic cleaners. They can dramatically reduce the effort in cleaning and offer excellent results.

Thank you kindly. I have seen it for cleaning hardware. Do they also remove rust ? The bracket had rust on it not dirt and grime. I really wanted to use the cap citrus solution but my hardware store didn't have it. Check out some results here.
https://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=121049. The bartenders friend worked better than expected and cost less than $2.00 . I don't have any rusty hardware but it would be cool to see someone with rusty hardware try the cap solution out.
