Well I won’t say it’s “installed” and it’s probably not up for good yet but it’s been a long time since 01-386 had a gas tank in place.

My lady asked why I was smiling, it's because I saw the gas tank picture.

Hopefully the last time of the disassembly, removed the steering column support.

The rust is very superficial and basically wipes off, not sure if I’ll re-finish or just transfer the one from the LS. I guess it will depend what the LS looks like when I get the dash out.

I had also been avoiding stripping the LS since I wanted to be able to start it up to use it for full running voltage tests but decided to buy a (30amp, 13.8v) power supply this week. While it’s not a full 14.4v I feel it’s close enough for testing isolated equipment. So this clears the way to start pulling out the motor and engine bay components that I’ll re use.

Also ordered this week was about $500 in wiring (striped, solid, 20-12awg txl wire and deutsch dt connectors and pins.

Actually progress was getting the passenger rubbers in and cleaned up.

Next will be to start cleaning harnesses and I need to get clutch lines in. In the clutch I had planned to transfer the LS hardlines but seeks they are slightly different from 01 (which I had donated to a 97 rebuild project). So I’ve been trying to source some from a seller I’ve worked with in the past but he hasn’t seemed to be able to find the time to pull the set he has for me. At least once I get the LS pulled apart I can check to see if I can make the 97 lines work or go with a braided line. Edit:seller just let me know he has the clutch hardlines lines pulled for me he’s just working out packing them up to ship.

(Not part of this weeks supply order but this did come this week) :)

Now I’m curious what the difference is in the clutch lines....

I think it’s due in part to the larger evap canister, even the brake hardlines route slightly differently from the 97.

When installing my brake lines I was going in part off the parts diagrams. Turns out those are all based on the 97 routing. So if you look at brake line diagrams on any of the parts sites then pull up pictures of my bay you’ll see there are some difference in how they route, mostly on the right side before they come off the firewall.

Got the power supply today. Turns out it’s only 20amp/30max but I think it will work for testing.Image

Now that I had the power supply and a great helper I finally got some testing complete.

Figured that would happen lol. We all order things at the same time.
I got one on Friday. I ordered 4 more. They have eta of end of the month. I hope you got yours. I placed the order of four because of this post.

I finally ordered a year specific manual for my car. My brother has a different year fsm, and the shop has all data. The all data info on the valve I changed was ridiculous. It was a picture of the bottom valve and that it was in the front of the gas tank .
