Dave, I have your car's younger brother 01-1325! I beleive there were 250 imported into Canada in 2001 (1100-1350)

Original red seats and red floor mats, original front end, and original 360 k (kilometres). I have had it since 2003 with 23 k on it. It has been a dream. Only thing not original is struts, intake, Jdm header, One clutch, brakes and tires. It has been the most reliable car imaginable. Had the motor redone at 330 k so hoping it will go for another 300!

Even with this kind on mileage it holds its own at the tracks.

^ Amazing! Glad to heaR it has been an incredibly reliable car and you've had plenty of enjoyment!
Where are you located and do you know where the car was sold new?

I have a letter from Honda Canada stating 185 were retailed but some may dispute that number.

I would be interested to see these red floor mats. I thought all 2001 came with black mats.

I bought the car from a dealer in Montreal. I was told it was owned by a honda executive but that it has sat in his garage for 2 years. He brought it to the dealer and asked them to sell it for them. I brought it back to Ontario.

I have seen 250 in lots of places but a letter from honda is more reliable. I wonder how many of the 185 are left.

The red floor mats were in it when got it. They may have been after market? They seem cheap but I read that the type r's had thinner floor mats to save weight.

I'll grab a picture.

From the serial number it looks like mine came off the line 78 after yours.

I really want to try again to track all the 01 CDMs down. Either 185 or 250 there aren't all that many to track.

There is one other 2001 CDM ITR in Nanaimo BC (Vancouver Island). It is a rebuild but he is done some awesome mods to it and fully restored it to show quality condition. I've talked to the owner of another in Vancouver 01-1288 a while back. He has a LHD Supra TT 6spd in the garage as well.

I think those are RHD ITR mats possibly aftermarket. You can still get the 2001 mats brand new from Acura. There are some in stock in Canada right now if you talk to your local dealer. Otherwise the EDM mats are much cheaper and look good as well. I run them as my daily mats.

Ha, ha. No, they are left hand drive. I took the picture from the top. I thought I rotated it in the phone but i didn't notice that it must have flipped/mirrored them.

I'll look into the new mats. Thanks for the info.

Very nice man. Glad to hear your R is running great. I've also heard from touringteg the number is 185, and others sometimes claim it was in the 160's.

oh haha definitely aftermarket floor mats then

The funny thing was I wrote back to ask to clarify what "retailed 185 through Canadian dealer network" means. Were there were more that were not retailed? I mentioned there were publications that said there were 250 made.

They were vague and could not or refused to clarify if there were more distributed. Perhaps handed to executives, museums or destroyed before delivery? The best way to find out would be to track all the badges down or at least as many as possible. :ugeek:

Here's one for you. He contacted me on IG. He has 01-1321, just one before mine. https://www.instagram.com/gridworksperformance/
