Did your carpet have the rubber mat on the driver side?

It has some felt backing in places but I didn’t see any rubber. It was definitely original when I pulled it.

Your before picture seems to have a rectangle on the driver side in white . Mine has the same imprint in white and I have this loose plastic mat thing that it seems was attached at the imprint. I don't know if it's supposed to be there so I haven't removed it . If it's supposed to be there I got to find some adhesive for it.

I’ll have to go back and look at some photos and see what all needs to go in then
Or pull out the manual and see it it has guidance, I know there was a carpet removal process (what I followed to remove) so it should have some indication.

It's on the exterior. This is mine. The white is felt. Never noticed that.

Oh, yeah there was a line of hard white on the carpet, it was almost like plastic or old dried wax. I suspected an aftermarket foot support had been glued down, guess it was less aftermarket. I'm happier to have the white crud gone now, removal wasn't fun. Under floor mats (Non-R checkered came in the shell, A set of new EU R mats, or a set of cut to fit Weathertech mats will always be in) I don't see any need for additional protection of a wear guard.

I had been avoiding color mapping the aftermarket harness and pinning in the Deutsch bulkhead connector for some reason but was quickly hitting a point where it’s holding up getting the interior together so I had to get it started.
Here’s the wideband and underdash accessory supply in place
Here’s everything I have planned pinned in with (2) spare positions.
Also started working on getting the battery mounted.

The head went back on today with a fresh Oem 3-layer head gasket. I’ve heard arguments against but I went ahead and took it to ARP’s recommendation @80lbs/ft tq in 3 steps. I’m still waiting for the clutch to arrive but I’m told it shouldn’t be much longer.

Looking good.. I've personally used that method over 20 times @30-60-80 with successful results.
