Re: Restoring #97-00012
Finally. Took the time to get all of this lined up and bolted on. Had 2 of the plastic welded nuts broken off inside the lip housing, so had to do some surgery and make my own receiver, but it uses the OEM bolts, and fits as it should. Time to sit back and stare and stare...... and stare....
Red "A" Badges coming up next and some decals. Shes lookin good!!
Stay tuned!

Re: Restoring #97-00012
She went for a good detail and polish last Friday, so as soon as she came home, it was time to lay down some decals and press in those final emblems....
Tomorrow she goes back to the body shop for some final body panel/bumper/gasket alignment. I want everything as close to perfect as we can get for a 26 year old caR without putting body work into it!! Then she gets ceramic coated next week.
But that couldn't stop me from taking a bunch of snaps and admiring how far she has come!!

Re: Restoring #97-00012
So I sat for a long time, analyzing, and staring at the side decals on the caR... They were running uphill. Driver side worse than the passenger.
If you look at the pic posted above of the side shot, you can even tell in the picture that its running uphill from left to right. Some say it looked fine and leave it, but I could see it was off, and it was not something I came this far to not have perfectly straight. It was the focus of my eyes every time I looked at the car now and I was not satisfied.
So I took a heat gun on low, and a plastic razor blade and peeled off the stickers. Full clean, quick toke to calm my nerves, and this time..... a laser level...
No messing it up this time! I measured against my PY and the placement and made sure everything hit perfect. Laser is on bottom of letters all the way across, and the lower tip of the R hits exactly where I had marked.
I know the stickers come with a "template", and I have the manual showing how to, but the hash marks were so much of a pain to align EXACTLY. It was close, but the laser level made it unquestionably perfect.
Im MUCH happier with how they are now and I can worry about other things instead.

Had a hole show up in the rubber hose line from the fuel pump to the filler tube.... luckily it showed its worst of symptoms while parked at the detailers shop. I got it buffed, cut and polished, and ceramic coated.
She lookin gooooooood.

So nice! The restore is phenomenal!
I've already started planning a restoration project that I'll undertake like this in the future. I've been buying up all the critical parts I'll need just in case they are discontinued like what happens with many older cars. I bought the headlights for $1500 and shortly after, they discontinued them! Now people who have them are already selling them for $2500!
I learned a lot from your threads.
