Enjoy! It's an unpopular opinion to some, but I feel the S2K pound for pound is a better car out of the box than the ITR out of the box. Both are great drivers' cars, but the S2K is a great weekend warrior IMO unless one needs to haul more than two bags of groceries. I'll take the ITR camping (again) anytime. I haven't spent enough time in an FK8 to compare but I'd rock an FD2 all day as a daily.

Driving the S2K has brought a lot of memories of my ITR experiences. I'm exciting to get the ITR finished more than ever now. I did get the ITR on wheels so I could push it out of the way so I could lift the S2K and just check out the under body. A lot of small cob webs and some dirt is all I found. The calipers and lower arms have surface rust but that's expected. In a few years I'll take these apart get them powder coated like I'm doing with the R.

I also got a few parts today from irunoem.

New hood latch cable, rear bumper mount (my oem is bent and causes sagging and misalignment. I tried to bend it back but just can't get it perfect) and a bunch of other misc nuts and parts.

I'll have the ITR back on the lift in a few days and resume where I left off. Its just been so hot, its not much fun to be in my garage. I don't have any insulation in the out building so it gets hot in there really fast. Once back on the lift, I will finish the brakes and then check out the gas tank + straps. I still need to finish the wiring up on the inside + the new hood latch cable. I think I will be ready to start engine assembly after this.

The weather finally got good here but I've been too busy with work. That will slow down in the next few weeks and I will get back to wrenching. 8-)

Enjoy! Pound for pound the the S2K is great out of the box as a driver's car. I agree, they share a similar driving feel.

Its been some time but have gotten a little done on the car. Brakes are all done and bleed. Finding seal kits for the dual piston front calipers (95 acura legend) proved difficult, I ended up getting some off brand on ebay. The boot seal doesn't work great on one I feel like. I could see myself putting some twin blocks on the car at some point. But these should work for now.

Since brakes and suspension are done (I need to install the swaybars still) Its time to move on to engine and tranny work.

I didn't do much to the tranny just a tear down and inspection and cleaned up the cases. I had a horrible time on reassembly, I had the reverse idler gear upside down. The case installs fine but it locks the change holder into 5th or reverse. Took me a awhile to track this down. :oops:

The transmission case assembly is tricky, there are a few nuances/tricks that help, but I don't do it enough to remember them. I also botched a tiny issue that proved difficult to source, purely a simple ring upside down. Transmission are fun.

Brake wise, if you decide to go BBK, I'll chime in. OEM parts are only getting more difficult to source. :(

Engine assembly has started. :beer: I switched from my old top mount setup to a Mini ram. The header and turbine are ceramic coated.

I really dislike how the oil pan turned out with the yellow zinc. I'm going to drop these back off at the powder coat and get it sprayed black along with the shift linkage.

More slow progress reports.

I didn’t like the way the shift linkage and oil looked with the yellow zinc so I took these to the powder coat. I also had some other misc parts done.

I have another batch of stuff to go to the plater and once I get that back I will be able to finish the long block.

I agree with your zinc comments, the black powder coat looks much better and closer to OEM.

Keep it up sir, you have ample time to complete these projects and shake the car down before Expo. :thumbup:
