I agree with jdmjnky it does look like there was some pre-ignition going on. The bronze looking spots have def been burned clean. Your spark plugs look on the lean side for sure. What's your a/f ratio on the datalogs?

I see now the valves are flat faced. Are they supertech?

Looking at my track addict datalogs, It's showing afr in Voltage and I am not sure if it is accurate. Not sure if it getting the correct information that Hondata and the AFR gauge. Seems like sometimes it would show up and other times it didn't. I think the bluetooth datalogs going to the app might have lower capture resolution due to limitations?

The valves are supertech flatfaced I believe. They came with the head. I was thinking of just going back to dished valves.

On valves, Is there an issue going with used lower mileage ITR valves? I ended up getting them along with the cams I got from a friend. Or should I just buy something new out of piece of mind? And are there recommendations on valves? My other head has stock dish valves.

OEM valves are great quality. If you go aftermarket then go with ferrea.

OEM valves are great quality. If you go aftermarket then go with ferrea.
Ferrea 6000 vs 5000? And used OEM is ok or splurge on new for piece of mind? I noticed I can still get OEM, but exhaust valves seem Discontinued...

Didn't accomplish much and probably may be in a holding pattern for now since my friend at the machine shop is heads deep trying to build a 3 rotor RX7. But I am looking at my spare GSR head, it has the piston type LMAs that will be swapped and I'll probably order new valve springs.

The plan is to take both heads to the shop he works at and see what they say on both since I do have concerns about the cam caps being scored. Here are pictures of it, My finger can feel it. That's going to be an issue isn't it? I've heard of others running them without issue, but part of me feels concern. These can't really be fixed can they if its deep?

The scoring on your cam caps and head are def minimal and will not cause any issues whatsoever. They actually look better than most hahaha. 5000 are flat faced I believe and more geared towards N/A. 6000 are dished and can me used with very high spring rates.
The machine shop will be able to tell you if the OEM valves are good. They might have to cut them first but they will be able to tell you either way. If the OEM valves are still usable then I would save the cash and keep them they are very good quality and will not have any issues with your current setup.

Agreed w/ DC231! I'd take a closer look at the resurfacing tabs, it might be on it's last leg. Given the history of mis-shifts, a thicker HG may be in your future. This will offset the material lost during new machining. It's one way to decrease P2V contact.

does anyone have files on those tabs? That's one measurement I have never seen to come across from factory. I always ask machine shops to document what was removed from head/block.

About running a thicker head gasket, is there a recommended brand to use? I've always used OEM so I am not sure what is available and also recommended. Cometic and Golden eagle?

You nailed it, those are the top two well known companies. You could also look into the oem brand AJUSA. If, all else fails, you hit a dead end, LMK, I can find out from our Ajusa rep if a custom thickness can be made.

So far, I don't have many updates on my Integra, but I think sometime in 2024, I am going to start things up again.

Is there any recommendation on B valve springs? I am still very iffy on tracking the car again and sticking to the simple life of just autocross. My concern is, how stiff do I go?, I am going to stick with the CTR cams I have, but I feel I will do a few track days again, but I also know that I am going to ride the limiter in 2nd gear on some autocross sites so some protection at 8600 rpm+ would be nice to have...I have OEM dual valve springs, but I dont know how hard they were driven on and it just seems like asking for trouble. There are a lot of brands and various rates so I am a bit overwhelmed on the choices

Around the same time the motor went, I was also planning on getting my Civic fixed so I've been working on it instead right now. It's been converted to manual and headgasket has been fixed, and used the correct year intake manifold, Ordered an auto to manual harness from Chuckchainz on Hondatech so I can get my cruise control and reverse lights (https://honda-tech.com/forums/sale-10/d ... A-3353245/)

I've been driving the Civic, but need to figure out the P1457 code, had a local shop smoke test and replace evap hoses near gas tank and also the solenoid near by. It was in bad shape due to outdoor rodents. Still getting the error, but checking with another ECU to see if it goes away. This thread got me to try another ecu (viewtopic.php?t=1309)

But I think I am going to have to take it back to the shop to check it again after I drive it more on the other ECU I just got.
