In view of the above, I'd be happy with a rollbar:

With the stock seats and belts.
And may I say thank you all very much for even (re)considering this. Ed

P.S. rollbar has been ordered, just a matter of installing before or after this expo

To confirm, you have fixed back seats today? Forgive me Ed, I went back through but didn't see your seat setup.

I DO NOT have fixed back seats!
I do not plan to order or install "fixed back/racing" seats any time soon.
A roll bar and "racing" belts are ONLY required with FIXED back seats.

WILL be running stock seats and belts, with a rollbar.

Spoke to both a NASA certified shop and an SCCA chief instructor (where stock seats and belts are OK with a rollbar, for HPDE, TT, PDX), and neither one seems to undestand why this would be a problem.

BTW -- the rule as read specifies what to do if one is going to be using "fixed back seats", e.g., roll bar and 5/6 point belts
-- this same rule DOES NOT say that a roll bar can't be used with stock seats and belts (since it is then an additional safety feature over and above the use of the OEM stock seats and belts).

Lastly, I don't really need to drive to CA at the end of Sept.

LOL, what happened in here?

Let's all relax a bit.

No worries, Ed. Like I said, we'll make it work.

Officially, rollbars and non fixed back seats can create an issue where the seat collapses back into the bar. I ran that exact setup many years ago before rules have shifted a bit.

However, we allowed a CTR with what was essentially an illegal harness bar out at Expo 18 East. With Expo 18 West, pre-tech will be required from a shop. That sounds like what Ed will be doing. If the shop signs off, the liability is not on us.

So, like I said, thanks for checking, Ed. Definitely want to see you out in CA. :drink:

Thank You, Sirs.
My previous last comment simply meant I'm really busy making things work out, and I could have used that week either to finish more work, read a book, or ... Ed :drink:

I'm interested in what kind of mileage a CTR gets when driven on long drives with cruise control.
