It was bought by a dealer in Southwest VA. They specialize in RHD car importing, etc.

This is the guy I follow on there, and who posted it up: https://www.instagram.com/osakaclubracer/

Maybe someone can convince him to post up more details about it over here.

It was an exciting event to witness and see the Type R finally have its moment to shine. Hearing the reaction of the older crowd left most baffled, but then again who really understands these cars aside from us enthusiasts?!

I took many photos and looked over the car in great detail. It sounds like it’s going to a good home where it will be preserved in its current state, in a museum. Best of luck to the new owner and thanks again to Brian. It was great chatting with you!

I would hope that you have some pictures to share with us other than the 3 or 4 that were posted on the auction sites????

I spoke with someone who had a friend that was also in attendance. They said the car was more towards 96-97% perfect as oppose to 100% flawless. I expected WAY higher of a sell price to be honest. I don't think this was the right venue for top dollar, but it was def the right venue for exposure. Even one of the announcers said "this is the next generations rare collectible, and we will look back at this auction as a steal".
I’d be happy to share the photos I took but could use some assistance as far as posting here. The car was driven almost 1200 miles so there were a few blemishes that could be expected from use. Perfect, no, but as close as you’re going to get for a 21yr old time capsule. I doubt I’ll ever come across another in that condition. The car is part of a museum collection in VA so I think it’s safe to say it will remain in its current condition for some time.

I agree that Barrett Jackson probably wasn’t the best venue, as most people I interacted with couldn’t understand why it brought the money it did. Now this came from the older crowd, 50+ and that’s the buyers that are at these auctions. Looking for trucks and muscle cars and the occasional exotics. But I think it certainly brought the enthusiasts to the auction. When you’re sitting in the live auction the bids go much faster than on tv and trying to understand the auctioneer is a challenge in itself. Too bad the velocity commentator wasn’t more informed and gave a more accurate description.

Isn't there a honda research car or 1 in their possession that has less than 500 miles?

I will post them for you if you want to text them to me. The Tapatalk is pretty easy. Coolhandluke has a tutorial. I was able to get by before he created it. Pretty cut and dry using it
