Hey guys, I found out recently from a friend on Instagram that the changes between the USDM and JDM hand brake do not just end with the grey button.
On our USDM hand brake the button can be unscrewed out, the JDM one with the grey button is not the same. Here's some pics!

Chewed up JDM:
Just thought I would share this so none of us ruin our JDM hand brake by trying to unscrew the button
For those of you that have not seen this, our USDM/CDM Integra came with a chrome hand brake button and at least the Type R in different markets had a grey button.

Good info, I really wonder why Honda thought it necessary to have a different button...

I'm guessing the buttons are the same weight and it looks like the metal rod is longer that the JDM one clips onto. Not enough to even note though, I'm sure they changed the button for design purposes. With the power lock switches gone the hand brake button would have been the only chrome in the interior, so they probably switched it to grey to match the shift knob.
I believe it was only the US and Canadian ITRs that got the interior power lock switches. Not sure why the RS wouldn't have gotten it though since they didn't have the power lock switches.

Anyone have a spare e-brake button I could buy/borrow/have? Chrome is peeling off of button on my GSR and it annoys me. Tempted to machine a replacement out of stainless or whatever looks cool. Is it just a plain round threaded part? ie. No machined grooves or anything on the ID or OD to complicate things? Thanks!

If there is a way to rechrome it that would be best I would think if you want to keep originality. If you want to see exactly what to do you could take yours off and see what needs done, or off a parts car in the junk yard
That's what I would do if you plan on making a replacement.. if it's nice enough you could probably sell em to the Integra community too!

Thanks for posting that.
Yeah, for ~$5 I think I will just buy one. LOL. It is cool to design and make parts but probably bigger fish to fry vs. that little guy.
