Looking for type R. Suggestions

Hello I am new here and would like some advice on purchasing a ITR.

I have experience importing vehicles and have found the absolute cheapest I can import one from Japan is for around $20k. Given that is with me doing most of the work.

I see usdm models are priced similarly while CAD models are even cheaper.

Can someone point me in the right direction?
Are the JDM models worth the premium? Should I stick with usdm for ease of registration?
Really I would like to find one around $15k but I know it's probably too late for that.
Thank you

I would first decide if you are ok with right hand drive or not. Also some parts are going to be a little more challenging to source on a JDM model. Fairly minor on ITR but more a challenge on other cars that weren't sold in North America.

I also looked at JDM imports and $15k would be rough and $20k will be ok.

If you are ok with a track car or driver you will save yourself some money. If you are willing to import from Canada a few are for sale in Vancouver BC on craiglist right now. All of them have modifications.

Also start watching the auctions on bringatrailer and look at some that were sold and for what prices to get a good idea where the market is.

Thanks. Yeah I have seen they go from $25-$40k on Bring a trailer. What is surprising is not a single one sold on there is a JDM model, they are all usdm or CAD.

I have found the Canadian models to be by far the cheapest ones. I know each has their own slight differences but does that really justify why there are such large price gaps between CAD, usdm, and JDM models?

I would have thought JDM models would be the most expensive ones but according to BAT, not a single JDM model sold there.

What is important to you? I don't care for a RHD drive car but a DB8R is appealing since the US didn't receive one.

For a Canadian or northeast car, I would pay close attention to underbody to inspect for rust, etc. Canada brings the increase effort of importing/registering, but would be easier & cheaper than registering a JDM import.

The majority of users on BAT are from the USA where the JDM ITR is only becoming legal this year. There are quite a few JDM ITR in Canada. I am storing my friends 96 ITR (JDM) along side my 98 CDM. (Neither is for sale)

Most owners won't list on BAT until they are close to legal or actually USA legal. Canada has a smaller market with less buyers which keeps prices lower than USA. Canada has 37.59 million people and California alone has 39.51 million (thanks Google haha)

Yea, CDM caRs reach their proper value once they are successfully imported into USA and verified no rust (like mine hehe).
