Hello Everybody,
I am testing interest within the community for my 2000 Honda Civic EK9 Race Base. I am not sure if it will wet the appetite for those south of the border due to it not being 25 years old yet, but you never know. Anyway, I bought the car in December of 2016 and did not receive it until March 2017. During my time I had the timing belt and all necessary services done. In addition the transmission/LSD was completely rebuilt and the clutch replaced. And to ensure good shifting I had the linkage checked and bushings replaced.
As is often the case with imports, no documents came with the car but based on the shadows of sponsorship labels on the fiberglass hood, and other observations I will make shortly, it was most likely raced; hence the thrashed transmission and why it might have been sold. I have not made any modifications since I bought it, but there were plenty already with it. Modifications include exhaust manifold and exhaust and coilover suspension. In addition, an integrated front lip was installed as well as a fiberglass hood with hood pins. Another sign it was raced. The car has only slight surface rust on the underside and the body is in overall great condition with some blemishes. There are some painted over chips/scraps on the top of the bumper. Because the paint on the red valve cover was chipped I replaced it with a new item.
With it being a Race Base it has no sound deafening or under coating. Due to this, and apparently having hard engine mounts it is extremely loud and vibrates like a bugger. Similar to a race bike, as the loudness increases the vibrations go down. Even with a helmet on it hurt my brain, a sure sign of a race inspired former life.
The car's mileage is around 159XXX Kilometers. I am looking for 40,000 CAD. The car is currently in a secured lockup in Sherwood Park Alberta on jack stands. The posted pictures were taken in Japan on the dock. I can include more pictures to interested parties.
I am selling because the car is too hard core for me and my other projects need the funds. Because I don't doubt I have forgotten some details, please ask. Oh, yes it does have air conditioning. Which to me is strange for a race car, but according to a poster on the EK9 site is not uncommon.
