01-0473 Found And Getting Fixed Up
Hey guys, I purchased 01-473 (VIN JH4DC23101S000819) awhile back and have slowly been fixing it up. I bought it from the original owner with 36k miles. It had been sitting in a garage for over 10 years. It had a turbo kit running 5 psi (wastegate pressure, pulled the spring to double check the guy wasn't BSing). I have since put it back to stock. The original owner gave me about 97% of all the stock parts, and the rest I found. Re-did the timing belt, water pump, clutch, wheels/tires, and currently am waiting for the brake master, clutch master and slave (the seals failed in both masters when I flushed them, and the slave is a might-as-well kind of thing). The paint unfortunately is shot, as some kind of fluid sprayed on a lot of the car that ate through it. It is a genuine 1 owner car with a clean Carfax and no accidents. All VIN tags are intact, though I do need to replace the front bumper, as it was cut for the intercooler.
I've been documenting the process slowly on youtube as well. Here is a link to my channel: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCQkHPNb8IhmabtJ3jkzJA9g

Welcome! I have been following on YouTube. After the first vid I thought you better buy it quick. Incredible find.
I know you won't want to share what you paid but how did you find the car in the first place?
A local guy recently bought a 50k mile (80,000kms) 99 CW CDM which also had turbo kit and cage. Turbo kit and cage were gone but holes from intercooler and cage remained. Also low compression pistons which is a real shame. He is restoring it to stock as well.

It is tiny. The 991 has gotten very porky IMO (one of my bucket list cars is a 997.2 GT3) and shows how big modern cars now are. My wing is bigger though.
Thanks man. I found the car on word of mouth. A friend of a friend leased the car from Denville Acura new and then bought it out. The turbo kit, according to him, was on for about 500 miles. He had gotten a job in Newark and was afraid it would get stolen so he put it away, intending to eventually do a motor build and more boost. The motor was never opened up. He ended up moving away about 5 years ago and then the car just sat. It's amazing, the bushings are all in fantastic shape and the car is really tight on the road. The only suspension piece I need to do are the lower ball joints, and that's only because the boots were torn.touringteg wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2018 10:12 pm Welcome! I have been following on YouTube. Thanks for the details. Two of the best sports cars I have owned were discovered through word of mouth as well and were not publicly listed. Cheers

I love the story. I'm sure the 50' rule applies, but the paint looks good in the images. Keep it up! I look forward to updates.

The more I look at these pics, it seems the splatters on the paint seemed to come off. Did you have the paint corrected or are they just not visible to the eye?

They did not, I just really only take pics of the left side, lol.Sp00nFedFilms wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 3:46 pm The more I look at these pics, it seems the splatters on the paint seemed to come off. Did you have the paint corrected or are they just not visible to the eye?
