Type R Club of America

Several have expressed interest in attending track events before or after Type R Expo West. Here is a calendar of local track days or events.

Weekend Before:
-Sept 22-23 (Sat/Sun) @ Buttonwillow w/ Speed Ventures, $179/day. ~5hrs from Thunderhill
-Sept 23 @ Thunderhill West 2mi w/ Speed SF, $TBD

-Type R Expo Sept 26-27 @ Thunderhill

After - Week & Weekend:
-Sept 27-30, Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI @ Laguna Seca. ~4hrs from Thunderhill
-Sept 29-30 @ Sonoma Raceway w/ Speed Ventures, $TBD. ~1.5hr from Thunderhill

This is a stacked calendar of track days and a historic Porsche spread across four tracks:
-Buttonwillow Raceway
-Thunderhill Raceway
-Laguna Seca *None track-day but historic Porsches will be on track
-Sonoma Raceway

I can also offer cruise input for those wishing to take scenic drives home or to additional events.


Automative aside, there are also plenty of:
-Breweries: Russian River, Lagunitas, more
-Wineries: Sonoma County, Russian River, Napa County, Santa Rosa, Livermore, more
-Hikes
-MTB trails

But count me in for Sonoma as well. Also, I may do Rennsport reunion on Sunday because that's really tempting.

I am going to have to extremely prep the car for this one.

For Porsche fans, here is a shot from the last Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca:

I'm interested in as much as possible while I'm out there... There is a small possibility the family is flying out to join, but most likely not. I plan on taking a relaxing drive over from Baltimore and then possibly shipping the car back east and flying home.

It would be nice to actually drive Laguna while out there and I'd look into Sonoma as well as the Thunderhill NSXPO event itself.

-Sept 13-16 -> NASA Nationals at COTA
-Sept 16 - COTA to Houston - 2.5 hours
-Sept 17 - Day of fishing with buddies in Houston somewhere - 8 hours
-Sept 17 - Houston to Dallas - 3.5 hours - hang with friends/overnight
-Sept 18 - Dallas to Cadillac Ranch - 6 hours
-Sept 18 - Cadillac Ranch to Albuquerque - 4.5 hours
-Sept 19 - Albuquerque to Phoenix - 7 hours
-Sept 20 - Hang with family/ravi/justin - overnight
-Sept 21 - Phoenix to Grand Canyon - 3.5 hours; visit only
-Sept 21 - Grand Canyon to Riverside, CA - 7 hours; stay with family
-Sept 22 - Riverside to Buttonwillow - 3 hours, possibly miss morning session(s).
-Sept 22-23 (Sat/Sun) @ Buttonwillow w/ Speed Ventures, $179/day. ~5hrs from Thunderhill
-Sept 24 - Buttonwillow to Mulholland Drive/Neptune's Net - 3.5 hours plus lunch or some meal, possibly w/ Travis
-Sept 24 - Neptune's Net to San Francisco OR Thunderhill directly - 4-6 hours
-Sept 25 - chill day in San Fran & tech the car for expo
-Type R Expo Sept 26-27 @ Thunderhill
-Sept 27-28, Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI @ Laguna Seca. ~4hrs from Thunderhill
