I bought a oem replacement for my em1 and the superceded part number ended up being the itr superceded part number. First time I was ever disappointed to get a type r part. The original knob is essentially the same only it had black stitching . Still had to use it because the em1 one was in terrible shape. I remember when my friend first bought his 98 around 2003 and his car had like 60k but the shifter looked like a worn baseball all the red stitching was broken . I would suggest picking one up. Every time these knobs come up , I recall the article with the 97 and they call it a pistol grip shifter. I then get this song stuck in my head.

So is the EM1 (leather black stich) no longer available? That is pretty crazy.
I have a new one installed but good to have a spare.

That's gonna reduce the supply of ITR shift knobs even faster if it's used as a replacement for other cars.
