Championship white/ NH-0 OEM touch up bottle
Championship white/ NH-0 OEM touch up bottle
I called Acura today about one of the little bottles of touch up paint. My Acura guy that I trust checked all the superceded part numbers on his database and it ended with not available. I thought it was weird, being the civic type R is available in championship white. Dc231 had already sent me a link with the new Honda version on eBay, but I confirmed with Honda it's available from Honda dealers. Green light on that aspect. Now here's my question. Either on here or the other board someone mentioned that jdm and usdm are a different shade. I thought this may have been to the conditions the cars were in. After that I was at IFO and there was a few JDM EK9s and DC2s with at least one usdm version and it was clear to me I was wrong. They are a different color. Anyone know if the current Honda NH-0 is a different shade? Obviously these new paints are water based, so we are going to have different part numbers .

I too have read that the jdm and usdm are different shades of cw. My buddy used to have a jdm car but I never really noticed a difference between his and mine parked side by side. Whenever I need a touch up for any of my cars I take my fuel filler door to my body shop and they mix me up a small bottle that’s spot on. The touch ups that we get at my dealer are never a 100% match. Sometimes way off.

I am all for paint matching, but I am also a OEM kind of guy.boostjunkie33 wrote:I too have read that the jdm and usdm are different shades of cw. Nh-0 is the same paint code/ color regardless of market. The only reason why it wouldn’t match is if the car was reaprayed or has faded due to excessive UV exposure. That being said Honda/ Acura has used the same name for different colors. Apex Blue Is as Infamous Honda S2000 CR specific paint name...but it also shares the same name with a New Acura Color that is a very different shade. The name is the same but the color and Paint code is different

Off topic... but I still have some 20+ year old touch up paint for my 98 that is still usable
Re: Championship white/ NH-0 OEM touch up bottle
the touch up paint i used on my 01 PY def is not a perfect match but it blends very well when you are over 5-6 feet away you can not even tell its there.

That to me is unacceptable. I have had really good luck with the Honda touch up paint. It matched perfectly on Milano red, vsm, cypress green and my brothers silver metallic s2k. The taffeta white was a total bust from Honda. The vsm I got from a paint shop was a heavy shade off. My brother went to the same paint place and the grey he got ended up purple. Lol. I am sure the place that matched the bike could match it but it wouldn't be in a touch up configuration. I would have to buy activator and mix and way to much paint. The cans I posted are the smallest I can purchase. On the teal bike they were originally painted with imron paint which is usually used on aircraft in the 80s and 90s. They contacted DuPont for the mix. I don't have any clue what type of paint or who manufactured it to try that route. I am willing to try if anyone knows.

This car is not the same shade as mine.

USDM and JDM NH-0 are definitely different shades of white. JDM is more creamy. I experienced this myself this fall when I tried to get some touch up paint for my JDMR.
USDM paint swatch on JDM CW.
Had to go back and get the gas door matched.
Left: JDM. Right: USDM
I thought it was maybe the faded paint so I decided to check the match under the hood and door jambs and it was the same throughout.
