Honda of Mission Valley has a red Civic Type-R for sale at $38k. I was told by a friend that the dealer removed the markup because they haven't been able to sell it. I don't know anything else about the car and what options it comes with.

Thank you for sharing.
Let's hope dealers pushing shortterm gains via (massive) markups doesn't limit Honda selling the CTR in the future... (as with what happened with Integra Type R's, S2000 CR's, and Mugen Civic Si's.)

One could fly Zach out as well. I agree, having Zach clay bar and ceramic coat is highly recommended.

Interesting point, I wonder if markups did play a big role in limiting sales. How to prove that? And are car manufacturers aware of that issue?

I can't speak for last or current year sale numbers, but I would be curious.

Dodge anticipated and took steps to prevent dealer markups on Viper Hellcat Demons in 2015:

The longer a Hellcat sits without being sold — as it might if it were to have a $10,000 or $20,000 market adjustment on it — relative to those on other dealer lots, the fewer future Hellcat vehicles a dealer will receive, the Dodge brand boss explained.

I was back in my hometown over the weekend and swung by a local Honda dealer for parts (now called Serra Honda). They had two CW CTRs with $5k markups. I forgot to get badge numbers
....23XXX is all I remember.
I talked to one sales guy briefly about it but did not want to waste anyone's time, haha. CW looked great though.

Cool. Very interesting how manufacturers have to motivate dealers in that way. They can't just tell them to not charge markups.
