What's fair price for a 2000 USDM B18C5 full swap?

The motor has 120k miles and could use a rebuild. The tranny has a fifth gear high rev slight grind; otherwise, perfect.

The swap includes long block, tranny, ECU, wiring harness, shift linkages, axles, radiator, hoses, etc.

It's not for sale. I just want to know what such a swap would go for.

Hmotors has similar swap between 3,800-4,600. Thoughts on following that pricing model for this?

Those hmotor swaps would usually be lower mileage imo, like around 60k miles or so. That price, around $4k, is the value for a swap that doesn't need a rebuild. For your case maybe a little lower toward $3k?

You can’t really compare a usdm Type R motor to a JDM. They made over 10x the amount of jdm Type Rs Usdm motors are much more desirable and valuable. You can also get a good idea of the mileage on a Usdm motor if it still has the vin. Jdm motors you will have no idea of mileage. Most companies have been advertising 30-60k miles on jdm motors for over a decade now. I can gaurantee that this is not accurate info anymore Why would they cut up a 20k car to sell it for a fraction of the money in parts? Most of the swaps have well over 100k now. They swap on a new valve cover to freshen up the appearance and put it up for sale.

I'm with Type R on this.. no possible way a JDM swap is worth as much as USDM swap.. C5 block is much more valuable than C blocks.. even needing rebuild if the C5 still has VIN intact and is complete valve cover to oil pan intake to header then I would say just the engine is worth 3k. I paid more than it would've cost me for a brand new transmission from Acura to buy the VIN matching transmission for my 01 PY when I located it. I would've paid the full price I paid just for the casing half.

Also for reference I paid 2600 for the 98+ JDM full swap that's in my 01 right now. It has the HMO stamps on the block and trans, I found the swap in Lake City Florida. That was complete engine with OEM header and Shields, trans, mounts, axles, harness, ecu, radiator, linkage. I have an RDOT engine and the VIN matching trans that will be going in after I finish buying gear set parts for the trans :D

Japan has very different laws and registration costs for old cars. A car that was removed from service a decade ago isn't going to have any additional mileage.

Im pretty sure if you called steve at hmo and offered him a usdm c5 swap for a jdm swap he would do it 100%.

Usdm swaps with vins are extremely valuable. In socal in the last year they have sold for over 5k.
