i personally thought the price to be fair considering fees but thats just me i guess.. however i did sell one for 500 then had sellers remorse for the next year and a half until i was able to pick up another to replace it which cost me $400 i think.

Acura EL's in Canada, may need to build a harness though, not sure which year they switched the harness plug over. But it's pretty easy to build an adapter

Acura EL radio I had was plug and play, I bought one here from a canadian seller a few years ago and sold it to someone here who was restoring their R last year. Price was far more reasonable. Didn't like the orange backlight on my non-R. The price of the EL radio didn't have any sort of R tax on it either and I sold it at a reasonable cost too. More than half the cost of that one on ebay.

The benefit of the Acura EL one is the stupid power antenna stays down if you are using the CD player or one of those adapters that have an RCA out and comes up when you want to use the radio. I have no idea why Honda/Acura didn't do this for all of their similar era headunits, b/c the Acura CL does the same thing too.
