So no mention of models yet , or the remedy but likely our cars will be included. From reading the bulletin, it looks like they don’t fire shrapnel at you like the other recall.

Saw this on the h-t civic section too.

Has anyone taken apart a stock airbag to see if it is from Takata? I noticed the RSX and S2000 seemed to avoid the recalls and thought they had autoliv airbags, (I was assuming integras did too)

The 94 model I have has no maker printed. The same thing with my 97 civic extra, as well as my ek9 / Jdm Dc2 variant. The internet indicates its a nippon airbag for my 98. Not sure if that’s the original supplier.

Were they ever the original suppliers for any of those models?

Looks like an update is out, no integra on the list, but my civic beater is on it.

I ran the vin on 01-386 and it came back with no recall, so far.
It's hard to imagine if the recall is extensive enough to reach Civics of the era it didn't affect any Integra.

I'm not going to worry about it too much though. I figure after 20 years, the odds of encountering the issue suddenly has to be pretty remote. With all the stories that circulate Honda forums around product failures something around airbags popping off would catch some attention if chances weren't extremely remote to begin with.

My weird guess is integras, s2000s, and rsxs had another manufacturer of airbags. Reading past threads on s2ki, it seems they had autoliv airbags instead of takata.

Here is the press release
https://hondanews.com/en-US/honda-corpo ... R4QibwEwZI
Honda is aware of one field rupture of a NADI inflator in a Honda vehicle globally. That rupture occurred during a crash of a 1997 Honda Civic in Texas in 2012. In addition, Honda is aware of two NADI inflator ruptures during vehicle scrapping activity in Japan. Each of these vehicles potentially was exposed to unusually high levels of moisture prior to the rupture events.

I would be very interested to hear more about the airbag that involved the scrapped vehicles. Salvage yards aren’t removing airbags with the battery installed. I hate handling these things enough as it is, and would like more details. Are they going to be using bomb suits for the recall ?

My 97 civic has the recall confirmed on the Honda site. So far my 00 hatch and em1 aren’t coming up on the recall, or the integra.

Anyone able to confirm if the jdm srs unit for the ek9 and dc2r are included in the recall? Considering they are the same wheel and airbag as each other I find it very unlikely that the dc2 did not get the same type of airbags as the civic. I will also mention I was in two front end collisions . One In a 1995 civic where a drunk driver clipped my front end, which sent me into a spin like you see the police do. I was then struck head on by a Pontiac. No Airbags deployment. The other my lady struck a Toyota echo who lost control some how and struck us with her front end. She was in front of us and managed to do that. Lol . The airbags didn’t deploy either. I am in Arizona. There’s no moisture here.
