Re: Grounding strap
I finally found a used ground strap in decent condition for JSH Motors in California. I have it sent to me and it looked a lot better than my current ground strap but it was still not a new 1 like I am still looking for. As I was looking at it, I figured there had to be a way to clean it up so I started looking online on how to clean copper wires. Found a guy online who said to use white vinegar and salt mixed together to clean the copper with. I made up the concoction and submerged the old ground I had in it. Boom! It was working and actually working pretty damn good. I soaked the ground in the solution for about 10 minutes and took a toothbrush to remove the stubborn spots and it actually turned out pretty good. Confident that it worked as advertised, I submerged the newly acquired ground in the solution and used the toothbrush again for the nasty spots. I rinsed the ground in a solution of water and baking soda to neutralize the acid from the vinegar. The results speak for themselves. It looks 10 times better than before, and it will be a great substitute until I find a NOS ground strap.

You are a sinner if you replace things on certain cars vs. do what you just did. We need to remember to restore rather than replacing is better in certain cases. Great job !
