Power window door fix for dc2/4

I was able to fix my broken window switch. It was really pricey for a used switch so I decided to bust it open to see if it can be fixed.

I opened it up and saw that there is no direct replacement switch. It was a special switch made specifically for this purpose by Omron. However, it looked really similar to their snap action switch! I took some measurements and hit up their catalog, I found a snap action switch that was VERY similar, in size and dimension.

Upon further investigation, their SS line had the same color snap switch and same terminal and same behavior. Below is an example of a generic (I found these guys at work, as I was too impatient to wait for another switch) versus OEM. I replaced the guts and BAM it worked!
Here's some tips:

• Must know how to solder

• Use a rework to remove the switch

• use solder wick to clean holes so switch slides right in

• make sure switch is held back on correctly, there's a pin that slides right through it and you need to flare the tip back in

• The spring is tricky, take a pic to understand how to put it back in

• Use flux! But use in well ventilated area

• do at your own risk and don't burn yourself

What about the passenger side switch? Did you find it in the catalog?

On the driver side, it's the same style switch. On the passenger side, I assume it's the same but didn't need to replace it. I doubt they are different as variation in mass production like that cost alot of money.

Thanks for the info on this DIY! Had one of my co-workers order this for me since we have an account with the company. going to try this. Seems like an easier option than to buy a used switch online that may or may not work.
