Type R Production Numbers
Re: Type R Production Numbers
How many press mules were there? I'm curious what happened to the 1997 ITR on MotorWeek.

I'll ask a few people involved with the ITR. That's a good question.
I know there were a few in the tech training centers, including a very nice 97 in the Hoffman Estates, IL location.

I look forward to their input. I know there was a converted LS->R used for press coverage and posters prior to release. It popped up FS a few times.

Re: Type R Production Numbers
I was very interested in buying that "Type RS" when it was for sale for $10k but wasn't sure about how to insure and register it since it didn't have a normal VIN.

This is a throwback, I recall when this car went up for sale. Rboosted717 and I kicked around whether it was worth pursuing. It would be awesome to get this car out to Type R Expo or do a full interview with the owner & car.Outrun wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 8:59 pm I was very interested in buying that "Type RS" when it was for sale for $10k but wasn't sure about how to insure and register it since it didn't have a normal VIN.

Looking back, I think it would've been worth it!
Re: Type R Production Numbers
Does anyone know the breakdown of how many USDM ITRs were yellow and black?
Also, according to my research, Sunlight Yellow was also the name used for 2000 and 2001 PY cars. I thought one year might've been called that.

As far as I know, U.S. cars were Phoenix Yellow in 2000 and 2001. Sunlight Yellow was used in Japan for ITRs and EK9 CTRs. Both codes are listed as Y56. On a side note, even Championship White, NH-0, used widely in all years and models, had different shades and amounts of yellow throughout the years making it difficult to match.

Anyone else notice that slice in the glass near the vin ? I have seen it a few times. No rock did that.
