2021 TLX Type S
Acura is moving in the right direction with this car imo. It is pretty fast, and looks cool. Love the type s badge in the grill. Reminds me of the TSX. A manual option would be lovely.

I'm probably gonna die before John Davis does.
Here's the Throttle House video on the TLX Type-S.

Re: 2021 TLX Type S
Thanks for posting that link. This car seems pretty cool, but Acura would have a real winner if they made a TLX Type R. It seems like such an obvious thing to do to me but with their dedication to just keeping Type R's for Honda I guess it's not likely. Surely they realize though that there is demand for Acura Type R's too.Outrun wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 7:39 pm I'm probably gonna die before John Davis does.

Re: 2021 TLX Type S
For what it's worth I am going to say that Acura should offer a manual trans option with this car. And the front wheel drive bias of the awd drivetrain is annoying considering that many other car makers offer cars with rwd or rwd-biased awd.
For example in the Throttle House video they tried to drift the Type S and it would not do so even with traction control turned fully off.
These reasons are why I have just about decided to buy a competitor's car instead, even though the new Type S is appealing in many ways.
In conclusion Acura should consider making a rwd sedan with a manual trans option. If they did this then I would be swayed toward Acura even if other competitors had more hp.

I really enjoy the retro videos. I used to watch it every Saturday when I was a kid.

Re: 2021 TLX Type S
Doesn't Subaru also use FWD bias? At least, they used to.
I don't have a strong opinion on the TLX Type-S. I haven't driven one. You'd think Acura would want some ITR drivers to say, "Whoa, this drives great!" Other than the NSX, what is THE driver's car from Acura's history other than the ITR?
The inability to drift a TLX Type-S might be the electronics, even if "turned off" from what I know.
Manual trans would be a nice option, no question. I think it would be a small adoption rate though.
Type-S Sport Wagon though? I'm extremely interested.

I've had a soft spot for wagons since the early 90's Accord wagons, boxy and all.jayhaire wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 11:29 pm Doesn't Subaru also use FWD bias? At least, they used to.

I have many growing complaints from Honda, your example being one. Honda forgot and only recently remembered the Integra Type R existed, and only to first sell a "sporty" MDX and now a new line of Integra. Convenient for them, but you bring up a great point- other than NSX influencers, Honda has made zero effort to include longstanding community members despite two decades of financially supporting Honda through OEM purchases, multiple Honda automobile purchases, lawn mowers, etc.
Given the majority of this community is in their mid 30-40's, one would think Honda (Acura employees - Honda is your parent company) would want to engage with the broader Honda community. The only approach I've seen in recent years was through Acura Corral events in conjunction with racing events, which I'll note was a nice move.

Re: 2021 TLX Type S
I'll say for the record that I have on order a Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. It is a little bit more expensive than the TLX Type-S. But it is so much cooler in many ways because mine will have manual trans, rear wheel drive, line-lock, and bigger brembo brakes, along with more power and torque. When will Honda make a sporty rear wheel drive sedan?
