Price - $10,000.00 USD. That is not a "type-o." If you've never built an engine or had one built I do not expect you to comprehend the price. This is not a price grab, price gouge, or money grab, it is a computed total as if I was building it for someone else.
Price sounds fair to me😁 the work that goes in to a proper build is highly meticulous and labor intensive.

Thank you sir. Right!? With that said, the time spent being meticulous is not even a factor in price. It's more of a builder pride. After I posted the engine for 0874 on social media a small trend took flight on performer X series IM's. I refer to it as the "spork engine." Again, cleanliness wasn't a pride pride thing, just a builder std. pride thing.

I fell out of my seat and sharted myself trying to get up off the floor when I saw the price!!!!

Kidding. Engine building isn't cheap and it's hard to find talented builders. You've proven yourself!

I have never seen a Rdot block with that type of engine number. That is a US spec 2001 block that came new in a car from the factory. Not sure how the Rdot got there. The number 8 means it's an 2001 the 3 means it's a U.S. market engine. The last 4 digits would be specific to a certain Vin. I'm sure someone on this forum could tell what car that motor originally came out of

HAHAHA I get, humble thanks. This is primarily why I don't track expenses. As of lately I've received more build requests, "how much to build it like that one;" I had to have an answer w/out loosing money. These are the results. By the time you add up all expenses, you'll arrive fairly close to or above depending on which parts are chosen.

Thank you brotha, I'm well aware these days. I learned this when I purchased my 00 R and went looking for the original swap. Which is really cool stuff. I was just stating my facts, and I included the engine serial no. to illustrate the discrepancy. Nothing to hide, the scenario just is what it is at this stage.

I'm in the middle of building an engine for the first time. My goal is also to get past those 3 factors you mentioned!

Just trust your gut, you'll be fine.

basic cheats/things to remember:
  • My biggest one....If you don't have it, wait until you can get it, no subs.
  • Double check yourself or work from a checklist if need be. If you think you forgot something, go back even if it means starting all over.
  • Some things will be trial and error (such as oil pan gasket "squish"), eventually you'll get it.
  • If you're not sure what bolt it is, use a tooth pick/on hand item for a depth gauge.
  • most importantly, enjoy yourself!!!
