It is with great pain and sadness that I have to announce that I will not be attending Expo 18 East after all. My Uncle passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly early this week and the visitation/funeral arrangments were made for Saturday and Sunday of this weekend in Wisconsin. As painful as this is, I have to put my family first. I was beyond excited to bring the Thunder Gray Integra out to the track again, and to spend time with this amazingly awesome community of fellow enthusiasts and friends. I am so bummed out right now that there are no adequite words to describe how dissappointed I am feeling right now. Since the participants list has not been posted, I dont know if there is anyone on the waiting list for Novice group, but there is going to be one open spot in my absence. I will see you guys at Expo 19, as I will not be able to attend Expo 18 West either. it is at the same time as my sisters wedding in Colorado. Do any of the administrators know who my instructor would have been? I'm glad my $400 could help to support Expo 18 even though I cannot attend. I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!

Thanks to all the organizers! Had a blast on Saturday! Was there a professional photographer there and if so what is his site?

I definitely agree, but it can be hard sometimes. I believe it was said on another thread (possibly on the old forum) that some of the OGs and people that have been to a lot of Expos should introduce themselves to people they didn't know.

I know for me, my first expo was 16 at VIR and while I did go up to a couple people, I had no idea if they were new or their first time like me. Obviously, it goes on both parties, but after just attending two expos (16 and 17..
.skipped this year), I definitely have the mindset to go up to people and talk to them.

I guess I'm just saying to help grow our expo, we should all make an effort to be welcoming. I know most do a great job at that, but for me now, I'm more cognizant of that (just my $0.02 cents and just in the theme of being constructive).

Yeah man, you have a point. I remember being a little intimidated during my first expo too. I'm definitely guilty of not going around and saying hi to everybody that I don't know as I get wrapped up in playing catchup.

Two minor suggestions I'd make:
1. At the banquet before calling out Edwin for making his 46th consecutive expo, have all the first timers stand up and give them a round.. It'll help matching faces with new participants prior to being distracted with a plate full of food.

2. Venue willing, rope off the paddock to force us into a more condensed space. Shy of club tracks like CMP or Gingerman, it's easy to get very spaced out from your neighbors with ample paddock space.

With that being said... Thanks to everybody for what was clearly another successful event. It was awesome catching up with you for the brief time that I was there.
