I would start by:
-Checking intregratyper.org -> Search the registry
*I did a search of 01's and didn't see this badge number
-Googling hashtag #011158
Reason: Owners have started tagging their car's via badge numbers on photos.
-Check OGHT

Thanks for the fast response. I checked the registry first but couldn't find anything..
I know the current owner I've been trying to get the car from him for about 2 years now and he's finally ready to sell!!!

What is OGHT?

The Carfax indicates clean title no accidents 5 owners last reported mileage 66k. It also shows that the vehicle was stolen and recovered the same day on two occasions when still in the original owners possession. Once in 03 and once in 06.

Vehicle is a shell as of right now but I found and bought the VIN matching trans already and am in search of the VIN matching block.

From what I could tell the drivers fender, hood, front bumper were not matching VIN. Didn't verify rear bumper VIN but looks to have never been removed.

The paint (PY) on the non VIN matching panels matches very well with very little over spray on the driver's inner fender well and on the metal support bracket on the passengers side of the front bumper. Some chipping on front bumper and hood. Slight peeling of clear coat on the rear pillar above the drivers quarter glass about the size of a coke can..

Interior is in excellent condition with no fading no rips with no floor mats or trunk mat.

What is the car's title status? Kudos for locating the VIN-matching transmission, that's impressive!

Yeah the trans cost me a pretty penny my friend.. I have a lead on the engine block but not going to get my hopes up yet..

I haven't seen the title with my own 2 eyes yet because the title is in the banks possession but my friend and current owner of the vehicle told me today that he called the finance company and they told him that they will not finance vehicles with branded title..

On the Carfax report under the title history section it says guaranteed no problems with salvage, junk, rebuilt, fire, flood, hail, lemon, not actual mileage, exceeds mechanical limits..

Also I checked instavin.com and it shows no signs of branded title.

Badge seems familiar and Ive heard stories about an ITR that was stolen twice in the same day. Ill see if I have any info. Also, I wouldnt put any credence to that odometer reading regardless what carfax or vin checks say.

Thanks for that info RTW I'll keep that in mind..
Interested in knowing why you say that though out of curiosity.. I know the current owner pretty well and I know he drove the car allot his first year or two of ownership so it doesn't look like any kind of mileage inconsistency to me but I definitely know you guys here know a bunch more than I do about these caRs so I'm all ears!

Lenders typically won't finance branded titles. If they do, the APR isn't worth the cost, and insurers still offer lower evaluations. That's why clean titles cars maintain value where as branded title cars are limited in value.

Yeah I definitely agree with that coolhandluke! That's why I'm buying the car, for my 2 week old son's college fund lol.

I also own a 97R (badge#unknown) that has rebuilt title and I love it and have been wanting a clean title R since I bought the 97 about 18 months ago.

I know that my friend bought the car in Feb 2013 and USAA loaned him 17k for the car with 37k miles on the clock. I wouldn't think that USAA would finance a branded title at all especially for that much..
