98-1059 is here to stay
Good evening. I’ll start this thread with an introduction. My name is Mark, long time lurker here as well as the HT ITR section. I’ve always drooled over these cars and maturity of the network of owners around them. Now here I am starting my own restoration thread.
This example resided in the east coast for a few years early on then spent the rest of its adolescent years on the west. Zero rust which is awesome. 120k miles and mostly stock. There wasn’t much information about this car on the internet other than it’s previous owner, so any other info or background someone know, please share. As far back as I know was a gentleman with the screen name 1fastk, then onto spend 3 years with craczilla, who I can’t say enough good things about. He’s the one who put the pieces in place to acquire this car. The main agenda here is to restore this car back to 100% new showroom OEM condition.
Let’s get onto what you guys came here for and that’s pictures.
The previous build I had the same agenda for. 2000 EM1 VIN matching original
Here she is awaiting her transport back to the east coast
As much as I think this bumper is cool, it isn’t for me. So it’ll be removed and sold
Car arrives 5am! I couldn’t even sleep the night before
My son and I hard parking before work that day
First wash later that evening
Previous owner removed the ABS since I believe it to be a race car early in its life. This is one of the first things on the list to restore
Removed for sale. UKDM headlamps
Removed for sale. UKDM bumper
BNIB visors. Haven’t decided on these yet
My buddy stopped over so the two girls can meet

Picked these up even though they’re not period correct, I’m hoping one day they’ll make a good trade for some checkered mats
Few more goodies
Started with a vacuum and a wipe down. The seats will be coming out soon for a proper shampoo and cleaning
On the list of to do’s. Typical DC2
I’ll be ordering new quarter glass, but waiting for the exterior paint to install and refresh any moldings
Always fancied these since seeing the ITR press shots
Local dealer delivery

Thanks guys. The comments fuel my fire!
Here’s today’s project. The car came with HASPORT mounts which I could it deal with, even on the 15m test drive I did with the car so we’re swapping them out for some stock joints.
The other project today was removing the Mugen pedal covers and replacing them with new OEM units.

Re: 98-1059 is here to stay
The car came with run of the mill Autozone coolant in it. My OCD ain’t got time for that!
Here’s a hint to tomorrow’s update....
