Replacing wheel studs?
Replacing wheel studs?
Will pulled his ARP install writeup on H-T and the old forum is gone.
I'm looking at OEM studs, not extended. Do OEM studs require the hub to be pulled for install? Wheel bearing is fine and I'd rather not replace it if I don't need to.

Re: Replacing wheel studs?
yeah you have to pull the hub
Re: Replacing wheel studs?
I know it’s not ideal but I popped a hub “part way” out to swap studs one time. Used the press to pop each stud out of the hub and then pressed the hub just far enough out to swap the studs (I went with ARP, extended). Pressed the hub back into the bearing and then pressed the new studs all the way into the hub.

Front or rear studs? Fronts, yes, the rears, no.
I can re-host my pictures from the 97 install a few years ago.

Re: Replacing wheel studs?
The method Christian mentioned is what I heard from a dealer tech friend does when replacing broken studs on cars.
He had to do it on my Integra when I needed a stud replaced on my car. It worked and I haven't had any wheel bearing issues.

Re: Replacing wheel studs?
Bringing to front.
I need to put on extended studs on my front hubs.
I am confused by what OEM parts I need to swap out to do this - do folks just buy a replacement front bearing (pull hub, remove old bearing, press studs, new bearing and old hub back in)?
The kits online show the hub and bearing being sold as one part?
So question is - is there a way to just buy right bearing (if so PN) otherwise do I have to buy this combo hub / bearing part?
Thanks.

FWIW if you're lazy like me, you can hammer out old studs without removing the hub, and grind off part of the head so the new one slides right in. I've done it on a few different cars including the ITR without any notable issues.

Yes, anytime the hub is removed, the bearing through be replaced.
The bearing and hub are separate pieces. Some dealers/etc. might create kits, as if one drives on a
Yes, one can just purchase the bearing. PN: 44300-S5A-008
Related, there are two types of ARP among other stud options, I documented them in this extended lugs thread:

Interesting... That's not showing up on Integra charts on amayama. Same size as the one I listed previously?coolhandluke wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 2:06 pm Yes, one can just purchase the bearing. PN: 44300-S5A-008
